CAMELLIA CITY MARKET HOLDING CONTEST FOR OFFICIAL POSTER
The Camellia City Market, Slidell’s first true farmer’s market, is sponsoring a poster
contest among Slidell area high school art students. The winning entry, chosen by
residents and market visitors, will become the official Camellia City Market poster and
will be used to promote both Olde Town Slidell and the farmer’s market. Slidell
public, private and parochial school art classes grades 8-12 have been invited to
participate in the contest, which began Oct. 10.
According to market coordinator, Danny Blackburn, “all entries must be 16x24, have
an Olde Towne Slidell theme, include one or more Olde Towne landmarks, include a
camellia flower and the Griffith Park gazebo and feature fruits and vegetables. The
poster must also include the following information: Camellia City Market, Saturdays,
8am, Every week, Rain or Shine.”
All entries must be dropped off at the Camellia City Market by 10am Saturday,
November 15. The Slidell Art League will judge the posters and choose five (5)
finalists. Once chosen, the five finalists’ posters will be on display each Saturday at
the Camellia City Market as well as at several venues around town during the week.
Residents of Slidell are asked to donate $1.00 towards their favorite poster. The
poster that collects the most money will become the official poster of the Camellia
City Market. The winner will be announced at 9:30am on Saturday, December 20 at
the market. The winning artist and his school will receive the money generated by
his entry.
